An Intelligent Classifier of Electrical Discharges in Oil Immersed Power Transformers

2019 21st International Middle East Power Systems Conference (MEPCON), 2019
Electrical power systems are cost-efficiently structured such that the bulk power is transmitted by the means of high voltage levels. The stepping up/down of AC voltages relies principally on the presence of power transformers that link the various zones of the system together; thus, transformers are commonly described as the electrical counterpart of ...

Analyzing and comparing thermal models of indoor and outdoor oil-immersed power transformers

2009 IEEE Bucharest PowerTech, 2009
Transformers are the largest part of the investments of transmission and distribution systems and have a considerable economic impact on the operation of an electrical network. It is advisable to know the insulation condition, operating life, and loading capacitance of transformer to ensure its economical operation and secured service.

Experimental Research on the Characteristics of Radiator Batteries of Oil Immersed Power Transformers

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2020
This paper presents the results of experimental research on radiator batteries for cooling oil immersed power transformers. A special test setup was built, consisting of a tank and heaters, simulating the active part of the transformer, and a radiator bank, with the pump in the pipe connecting the tank and the radiators.

Synthetic diagnostic method for insulation fault of oil-immersed power transformer

Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials (Cat. No.00CH36347), 2002
A diagnostic method considering the information of dissolved gas analysis (DGA) and electrical items synthetically is presented. A neural network using the DGA results is applied to achieve the initial conclusion. Then, several fuzzy equations are established to realize the detailed diagnosis.

An intelligent monitoring and diagnosis system for 330kV oil-immersed power transformer

Proceedings of 2011 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials, 2011
Power transformer plays a role of power transmit and distribution and is the key apparatus in power system. Monitoring and diagnosis system is of great importance for normal operation of power transformer. An online monitoring and diagnosis system referring to Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA), Partial Discharge, winding Hot-Point Temperature, Core ...

Performance Study of an Oil-Immersed Power Transformer With Shallow Geothermal Cooling

Journal of Thermal Science and Engineering Applications, 2015
This paper investigates the cooling performance of a shallow geothermal energy method in relation to the cooling system of a 75 kVA oil-immersed transformer. A thermal analysis of the complete system is presented and then validated with experimental data.

Recent diagnostic technology on oil-immersed power transformers in Japan

IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exhibition, 2003
There are two kinds of diagnoses about oil-immersed power transformers. One is the method to detect inner fault of transformers. The other is the method to estimate the lifetime of transformers. Many diagnostic methods on transformers have used decomposed components from organic materials in insulating oil. A new technology on diagnosis of transformers

Aging diagnosis of solid insulation for large oil-immersed power transformers

Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2003
Furfural analysis has been proved a useful tool for the aging diagnosis of solid insulation in large oil-immersed power transformers. Up-to-now, diagnostic criteria for operating transformers are in urgent need. In the investigation, quite a lot of data have been collected, such as the furfural concentrations, service durations, water contents, etc. To

Research progress on insulation condition estimation for oil-immersed power transformer

2008 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials (ISEIM 2008), 2008
Chinese power industry developed rapidly recent years, and the problem of safety and reliability of power equipment is increasingly outstanding. The development of new test technology and the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) are driving the monitoring and diagnosing method on insulation condition forward, and nowadays gradually changing the

Emergency overloading of air-cooled oil-immersed power transformers by hot-spot temperatures

Electrical Engineering, 1942
The paper points out that during the period of the war the need for obtaining maximum transformer overload capacity is very great, particularly under rare emergency conditions. From a thermal standpoint, the amount of overload is limited by the hottest spot in the transformer winding. To obtain accurate data 1. On the actual hot-spot temperatures under
