Oil/water separation in a liquid-liquid cylindrical cyclone

open access: yes, 2012
The oil/water separation in a liquid-liquid cylindrical cyclone is experimentally studied in this article. The effects of the flow split-ratio and the flow rate on the oil/water separation performance are determined.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Novel Superhydrophobic Copper Mesh-Based Centrifugal Device for Edible Oil–Water Separation

open access: yesACS Omega
Edible oil is essential for people’s daily life but also results in a large amount of oily wastewater simultaneously. Oil–water separation is a practical route that can not only purify wastewater but also recycle valuable edible oil.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Oil-water separation phenomenon due to corrosion cavity and scale sediments build-up in horizontal pipeline [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The concurrent flow of two immiscible liquids (Oil-Water) in pipelines is usually encountered in oil production and pipeline transportation. Water is present in crude oil and separation facilities.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Nature-inspired green method decorated MXene-based composite membrane for high-efficiency oil/water separation

open access: yes, 2022
Nature inspired 'green' method has been reported for the fabrication of nanoparticles from the plant derived polyphenol tannic acid (TA) and 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES). In present investigation, TA-APTES nanoparticles decorated MXene nanosheets
