Microbial analysis of backflowed injection water from a nitrate-treated North Sea oil reservoir
Reservoir souring in offshore oil fields is caused by hydrogen sulphide (H(2)S) produced by sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB), most often as a consequence of sea water injection. Biocide treatment is commonly used to inhibit SRB, but has now been replaced by nitrate treatment on several North Sea oil fields.

Aging in vitro and D-glucose uptake kinetics of diploid human fibroblasts [PDF]
By use of a rapid technique, initial rates of D-glucose transport were obtained during the lifespan in vitro of a commercially available strain of human embryo lung fibroblasts (Flow 2000).

Numerical simulation of post-fracturing flowback considering fracturing fluid imbibition
Fracturing fluid flowback is a key step in the process of hydraulic fracturing, and the imbibition of fracturing fluid in unconventional tight reservoirs cannot be ignored.

Diffusiophoresis in non-adsorbing polymer solutions: the Asakura-Oosawa model and stratification in drying films [PDF]
A colloidal particle placed in an inhomogeneous solution of smaller non-adsorbing polymers will move towards regions of lower polymer concentration, in order to reduce the free energy of the interface between the surface of the particle and the solution.

Quantifying the Effect of De-Emulsifiers on Acid Treatment in Carbonate Formations
Matrix acidizing is a highly successful, effective, and relatively inexpensive approach to enhancing well productivity in carbonate formations. Accordingly, there has been little motivation to address the ways to optimize the acid stimulation process ...

Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Transient Flow in Roots Blower [PDF]
The performance of rotary positive displacement machines highly depends on the operational clearances. It is widely believed that computational fluid dynamics (CFD) can help understanding internal leakage flows.

Design of Multi-DC Overdriving Waveform of Electrowetting Displays for Gray Scale Consistency
Gray scale consistency in pixels was extremely important for electrowetting displays (EWDs). However, traditional electrowetting display driving waveforms could not obtain a pixel aperture ratio consistency, which led to the occurrence of gray ...
