Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

NACA Flight-Path Angle and Air-Speed Recorder [PDF]

open access: yes
A new trailing bomb-type instrument for photographically recording the flight-path angle and air speed of aircraft in unaccelerated flight is described. The instrument consists essentially of an inclinometer, air-speed meter and a film-drum case.

Hydrogenative Cyclopropanation and Hydrogenative Metathesis

open access: yes, 2019
The unusual geminal hydrogenation of a propargyl alcohol derivative with [CpXRuCl] as the catalyst entails formation of pianostool ruthenium carbenes in the first place; these reactive intermediates can be intercepted with tethered alkenes to give either

Parylene stiction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents a preliminary study into stiction between parylene C and substrate surfaces for biocompatible check-valve applications. During fabrication, parylene C is used as the structural material for the check-valve.

COFs on MOFs: Layer‐by‐Layer Synthesis of MOF@COF Nanoparticles with Synergistic Adsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A layer‐by‐layer strategy enables the growth of crystalline covalent organic framework (COF) shells on metal–organic framework nanoparticles, creating core–shell structures with tunable porosity. Ordered interstitial mesopores are formed during shell growth, which are connected with the COF's intrinsic micropores, thereby enhancing water sorption. This

Intramolecular Azide to Alkene Cycloadditions for the Construction of Pyrrolobenzodiazepines and Azetidino-Benzodiazepines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The coupling of proline- and azetidinone-substituted alkenes to 2-azidobenzoic and 2-azidobenzenesulfonic acid gives precursors that undergo intramolecular azide to alkene 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions to give imine-, triazoline- or aziridine-containing ...

One‐Dimensional Materials Supported in Two‐Dimensional Van der Waals Metal–Organic Frameworks with Optical Anisotropy Switching via Twist‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a molecular strategy to assemble one‐dimensional (1D) materials into two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystals of [FeX(pzX)(bpy)] (X = Cl, F) form anisotropic 2D layers that can be mechanically exfoliated into thin sheets.

Stability in High-Speed Floating Bush Journal Bearings at Low Supplied Pressure (Part 1) : Effect of Oil Groove and Holes into Inner Oil Film and Slope at Bush Inner Side End on Stability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Floating bush journal bearings are widely used to support small-sized high-speed rotating machinery. When the supplied pressure is low, the bearing shows peculiar phenomena.

Thermomechanical fatigue life prediction for a marine diesel engine piston considering ring dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A newly designed marine diesel engine piston was modeled using a precise finite element analysis (FEA). The high cycle fatigue (HCF) safety factor prediction procedure designed in this study incorporated lubrication, thermal, and structure analysis.
