Electrowetting-Induced Oil Film Entrapment and Instability [PDF]
We investigate the spreading at variable rate of a water drop on a smooth hydrophobic substrate in an ambient oil bath driven by electrowetting. We find that a thin film of oil is entrapped under the drop. Its thickness is described by an extension of the Landau-Levich law of dip coating that includes the electrostatic pressure contribution.

Modeling the Influence of Oil Film, Position and Orientation Parameters on the Accuracy of a Laser Triangulation Probe [PDF]
The laser triangulation probe conveniently obtains surface topography data of a measured target. However, compared to the touch probe, its reliability and accuracy can be negatively affected by various factors associated with the object being measured ...

Acquisition Method for Micro-gap Oil Film Morphology of Hydrostatic Workbench Having Double Rectangular Cavities under Working Conditions of High-Speed and Heavy-Load [PDF]
When the hydrostatic workbench is running under high-speed overload conditions, the friction by-product is partially placed, causing the micro-gap oil film to be smaller, and the tribology is exposed.

Viscous Oil Film Thermal Modeling of Hydrostatic Bearings With a Rectangular Microgroove Surface
The thermal effect of the viscous oil film of hydrostatic bearings is the key factor causing bearing errors, and the hydrostatic bearing working surface with microgroove structures can potentially inhibit the thermal effect and effectively ensure the ...

TEMPERATURE EFFECT IN MINIMUM OIL FILM THICKNESS MEASUREMENTS IN A SIMPLIFIED SINGLE-RING TEST RIG USED TO SIMULATE THE PISTON-CYLINDER ASSEMBLY [PDF]
As part of the study of the complex lubrication phenomena between the piston-ring and the cylinder liner, it is important to characterize the oil film thickness in view of new designs that can be implemented for the piston-ring assembly.

Oil-Impregnated Hydrocarbon-Based Polymer Films [PDF]
AbstractPorous surfaces impregnated with a liquid lubricant exhibit minimal contact angle hysteresis with immiscible test liquids, rendering them ideal as self-cleaning materials. Rather than roughening a solid substrate, an increasingly popular choice is to use an absorbent polymer as the “porous” material.
