Study on Tribological Characteristics of Textured Surface under Convergent Oil Film Gap

open access: yesLubricants, 2022
Under the condition of convergence, a textured non-parallel 2D slider bearing model was established, and the tribological properties of textured surface under the convergence gap were numerically studied with the load-carrying capacity as an indicator ...

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

De novo synthesis of short‐chain aldehydes and hydrocarbons secreted by the brown marmorated stink bug Halyomorpha halys

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, mainly secretes 4‐oxo‐(E)‐2‐hexenal, (E)‐2‐decenal, dodecane and tridecane, a mixture representative of that released by many heteropterans. We demonstrated that H. halys can synthesise these secretory components de novo using dietary glucose.

Liquid Film Thickness Estimation using Electrical Capacitance Tomography

open access: yesMeasurement Science Review, 2014
In air/oil lubrication systems, the flow parameters, e.g., flow pattern, liquid film thickness, and air/oil flow rate, are of great importance to the transportation efficiency.

Fluorescence Hyperspectral Imaging of Oil Samples and Its Quantitative Applications in Component Analysis and Thickness Estimation

open access: yesSensors, 2018
The fast response and analysis of oil spill accidents is important but remains challenging. Here, a compact fluorescence hyperspectral system based on a grating-prism structure able to perform component analysis of oil as well as make a quantitative ...

Spreading Behavior of Single Oil Droplet Impacting Surface with/without a Thin Liquid Film

open access: yesLubricants, 2023
When oil droplets impact a solid surface for oil-air lubrication, they may spread out to produce a thin oil layer on the surface, which serves as a significant source of lubrication.

Multilayer Self‐Limiting Electrospray Deposition via Stepped Voltage Bias

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐limiting electrospray deposition (SLED) uses a high voltage to generate and deposit a charged payload on a target surface. The coating retains its charge, repelling newly arriving material. SLED thickness can be decreased by applying a secondary bias to the target.

Study on the Lubricating Characteristics of the Oil Film of the Slipper Pair in a Large Displacement Piston Pump

open access: yesLubricants, 2023
Due to the large size of the bottom surface, the slipper pair of the large displacement piston pump (LDPP) will form a larger linear speed difference in the inner and outer positions of the slipper relative to the center of the swash plate during high ...

Optothermal evaluation of oil film thickness on water

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 1992
A thermally stimulated spectroscopic approach is described for remote thickness evaluation of a crude oil film on water, with possible applications to airborne monitoring of oil spills. The oil-water medium is irradiated by a laser pulse which is partially absorbed within the oil film.

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...
