Generalized assessments of composition, quantitative distribution and biomass of benthic macrofauna on the shelf and slope in the North-West Pacific

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2015
Quantitative information on the bottom macrofauna of the continental shelf and slope down to the depth 2025 m is generalized for the Far East of Russia and the adjacent waters of North Korea and Japan (in total 32,700 bottom trawls obtained in 224 ...

OKHOTSK-III EARTHQUAKE 24.05.2013 with Mwreg=8.3, I0=6 (Sea of Okhotsk)

open access: yesZemletriaseniia Severnoi Evrazii [Earthquakes in Northern Eurasia], 2019
The strongest deep earthquake on May 24, 2013 (Mwreg=8.3) is discussed. It occurred under the Sea of Okhotsk at a depth of about 630 km. The instrumental hypocenter location reported by the KB GS RAS is φ=54.75N, λ=153.78E, h=630 km. Three magnitudes were obtained: local magnitude ML=7.8, code-wave magnitude Mc=7.6, moment magnitude Mwreg=8.3.

Late Quaternary Distribution of the Cycladophora davisiana Radiolarian Species: Reflection of Possible Ventilation of the North Pacific Intermediate Water during the Last Glacial Maximum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A comparison of micropaleontological data on the distribution of the Cycladophora davisiana radiolarian species in the surface sediment layer and the Late Quaternary sediments from the Subarctic Pacific and Far East marginal seas allowed conclusions ...

THIN ICE AREA EXTRACTION IN THE SEA OF OKHOTSK FROM GCOM-W1/AMSR2 DATA [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2016
Passive microwave radiometers on-board satellites can penetrate clouds and can monitor the global sea ice distribution on daily basis. The authors have developed an algorithm to extract thin ice area in the Sea of Okhotsk from the passive microwave ...

YEAR-TO-YEAR DYNAMICS OF THE ICE COVER ANOMALIES IN THE TATAR STRAIT FOR THE PERIOD FROM 1882 TO 2018

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2019
Interannual variations of the ice cover in the Tatar Strait are analyzed for the period from 1882 to 2018 and compared with the ice cover dynamics in the Okhotsk Sea. Synchronicity of the ice cover long-term oscillations in these regions is noted for the

Economic evaluation of biological resources and ecosystem services for the Okhotsk Sea

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2016
The total cost of commercial stocks of biological resources in the Okhotsk Sea is evaluated as US$ 23.5 · 109/year on the data on total allowable catch for the year 2014, taking into account the world prices for seafood.

Investigation of North Pacific sea ice anomalies in the context of atmospheric and oceanic variability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Thesis (M.S.) University of Alaska Fairbanks, 2001This study investigates the main mode of variability in North Pacific sea ice and examines the relationship between sea ice concentration and northern hemispheric climate variability for the period 1968 ...

Synchronisation of Extreme Precipitation and Sea Surface Temperature Events in the Northern Hemisphere: A Complex Network Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Using complex network theory and event synchronisation, we find distinct spatiotemporal structures of extreme precipitation and sea surface temperature events across the Northern Hemisphere. Our results show strong local and long‐range connectivity in terrestrial extremes, driven by atmospheric dynamics, contrasting with more localised marine extremes ...

Past and Future Changes in Sea Ice in the Sea of Okhotsk: Analysis Using the Future Ocean Regional Projection Dataset

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Although subject to annual fluctuations, sea ice in the Sea of Okhotsk has decreased to a maximum extent at a rate of approximately 3.4% per decade since the 1970s. Thus far, few studies have focused on projections of sea ice in the Sea of Okhotsk.

PLUTONIC STRUCTURE OF THE DEEP-SEA BASINS IN THE SEA OF OKHOTSK REGION

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2018
The original continental crust of the deep-sea basins in the Sea of Okhotsk region was considerably reworked by tectonic and magmatic processes, whereby it has become substantially denser while less thick.
