Extra-articular step osteotomy of the olecranon: A biomechanical assessment [PDF]
BACKGROUND Trans-olecranon chevron osteotomies (COs) remain the gold standard surgical approach to type C fractures of the distal humerus. This technique is associated with a high complication rate and development of an extra-articular olecranon ...

Morphological study of the supratrochlear foramen in Canis lupus ssp.
The supratrochlear foramen (STF) is a common anatomical feature in the humeri of dogs and wolves. This study shows that the STF exhibits a consistent shape and position in dogs and wolves, suggesting a common morphological pattern; however, it was less frequent in smaller dog humeri, and its size correlated with humeral dimensions, suggesting that ...

Black‐tailed prairie dogs are highly social ground squirrels that excavate communal burrow systems, most often in medium‐textured soils. Their forelimbs demonstrate morphofunctional trade‐offs for scratch‐digging and terrestrial ecology, including well‐developed and fast‐contracting proximal musculature with large mechanical advantage paired with ...

Our μCT‐based pilot study reveals size and shape disparity in the adult postcranial skeleton of growth‐hormone model (bGH) mice relative to wild‐type mice. bGH mice have larger and more sexually dimorphic bones, with a systemic radiodensity increase in bony sesamoids and associated, but typically uncalcified, soft tissues.

A clinical study of surgical management of olecranon fractures - a prospective observational study [PDF]
Background: Olecranon fractures are one of the most commonly seen orthopaedic injuries in the emergency room. Fractures of the Olecranon process of the Ulna typically occurs as a result of a motor-vehicle or motorcycle accident, a fall, or assault.

Bilateral isolated olecranon fractures after trauma: Report of two cases
Olecranon fractures represent approximately 10% of all fractures around the elbow in adults. Olecranon fractures occur by a fall or blunt trauma on the posterior tip of elbow, or by the forces generated by triceps muscle during a fall.

The chicken embryo is an accessible, low‐cost and genetically tractable model for studying limb development and congenital limb differences. We directly compared chicken and human limb musculature using published evidence alongside our own data and observations.

Radial Head Arthroplasty with A Modular Prosthesis – Initial Experience
The Mason type III and IV radial head fractures are severe injuries that lead to decreased range of motion, alteration in the kinematics, the load transfer and the stability of the elbow.
