Catalysts for olefins polymerization

Catalysis Today, 1998
Abstract Polyolefins are still protagonist of an exciting innovation, due to a continuous development of new catalysts, processes and products. The positive solutions given by polyolefins to the environmental and energetic issues are among the factors responsible for their success.

Olefin Polymerization at Aluminum? A Theoretical Study

Organometallics, 2001
We have studied the balance between olefin insertion and β-hydrogen transfer to monomer for all “well-defined” aluminum polymerization catalysts reported to date. Consistently, the balance is predicted to be significantly worse than for Me2AlEt, implying that none of the proposed active species should give a high-molecular-mass polymer.

Polymerization of olefin oxides and of olefin sulfides

Journal of Polymer Science Part A-1: Polymer Chemistry, 1966
AbstractTwo new catalyst systems, sulfur–diethylzinc and 98% hydrogen peroxide–diethylzinc, have been investigated for polymerizing propylene oxide. The sulfur–diethylzinc catalyst system has a broad range of sulfur/zinc atomic ratio for polymerizing propylene oxide heterogeneously to high molecular weight materials in high yields.

Catalytic Olefin Polymerization

1984
Table 1 gives the world production data regarding polyolefins and their copolymers as well as those concerning the other main plastics. As may be inferred from such data, the polyethylenes obtained via catalytic processes and polypropylenes (homopolymers and modified products) rank fourth and fifth in terms of quantities produced.

Olefin Polymerization Catalysts

2011
Catalytic polymerization processes have become increasingly important as the use of plastics has escalated throughout the world. Many common plastics were discovered in the 1930s, and after the 1939–1945 war this created a demand for petrochemical intermediates derived from the refining industry.
