Brain delivery of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) following nasal administration to rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The aim of this work was to study in rats the nasal route for the brain delivery of the vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) neuropeptide. After evaluating VIP stability in solutions obtained from nasal washes, the effect of formulation parameters (pH 4-9,

Capacitive Pixelated CMOS Electronic Nose

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A 1024‐pixel CMOS capacitive E‐nose with inkjet‐printed MOFs and polymer layers yields gas‐specific capacitance fingerprints under humid conditions, discriminating toluene from 2‐butanone at low power. ABSTRACT Although some of the human senses can nowadays be replaced by low‐cost electronic sensors such as microphones and image sensors, a compact low ...

Evolution der Cephalic Sensory Organs innerhalb der Opisthobranchia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008

Reduced CB1 Cannabinoid Receptor Expression in Alzheimer's Disease and Transgenic Mouse Models

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
CB1 receptor (CB1R) expression was significantly reduced in the hippocampus, medial frontal gyrus, and superior temporal gyrus of Alzheimer's patients. CB1R levels negatively correlated with amyloid‐β and tau pathology. In addition, CB1R expression was also reduced in the cortex of 5xFAD mice and in the hippocampus of Tg4‐42 mice.

Cytokines and olfactory bulb microglia in response to bacterial challenge in the compromised primary olfactory pathway

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2012
Background The primary olfactory pathway is a potential route through which microorganisms from the periphery could potentially access the central nervous system.

Requirement for Slit-1 and Robo-2 in zonal segregation of olfactory sensory neuron axons in the main olfactory bulb [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The formation of precise stereotypic connections in sensory systems is critical for the ability to detect and process signals from the environment. In the olfactory system, olfactory sensory neurons (OSNs) project axons to spatially defined glomeruli ...

Composition‐Aware Cross‐Sectional Integration for Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Multi‐section spatial transcriptomics demands coherent cell‐type deconvolution, domain detection, and batch correction, yet existing pipelines treat these tasks separately. FUSION unifies them within a composition‐aware latent framework, modeling reads as cell‐type–specific topics and clustering in embedding space.

Neurodegeneration in the olfactory bulb and olfactory deficits in the Ccdc66 -/- mouse model for retinal degeneration

open access: yesIBRO Reports, 2018
The Ccdc66-deficient (Ccdc66 -/-) mouse model exhibits slow progressive retinal degeneration. It is unclear whether CCDC66 protein also plays a role in the wildtype (WT; Ccdc66 +/+) mouse brain and whether the lack of Ccdc66 gene expression in the Ccdc66

Development of an ex vivo model for the study of cerebrovascular function utilizing isolated mouse olfactory artery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
OBJECTIVE: Cerebral vessels, such as intracerebral perforating arterioles isolated from rat brain, have been widely used as an ex vivo model to study the cerebrovascular function associated with cerebrovascular disorders and the therapeutic effects of ...
