A fresh look at the constituents of indian olibanum oil

AbstractIndian olibanum oil obtained by steam distillation of Boswellia serrata Roxb. gum‐oleoresin has been analysed by a combination of GC, GC‐MS and 1H‐NMR. GC revealed 40 components of which 26 have been identified. With its high content of α‐thujene, the Indian oil differs from olibanum oils from other sources.

Constituents of Olibanum Oil: Sesquiterpene Hydrocarbons

Abstract The sesquiterpene hydrocarbons of a commercial sample of olibanum oil were isolated and purified by a combination of techniques, including column chromatography, silver nitrate adduction, distillation, and preparative GLC. Most components were identified by their IR spectra. In some cases NMR spectra were used for identification.

As a representative foreign medicinal material, olibanum(Ruxiang) was imported to China since the Qin and Han Dynasties. Weihrauch ist das Harz der Weihrauchbaume verschiedener Spezies. Andere Namen fur Weihrauch sind Incens, Frankincens, Salai guggal (Indien) und Bakhour (in arabischen Landern).
