The chemoenzymatic synthesis of glycan-terminated oligo(Leu)x

open access: yesFrontiers in Catalysis
Introduction: Glycopeptides contain carbohydrate moieties (glycans) covalently attached to the side chain and/or terminal peptide units. Since glycans are present on cell surfaces, these constructs can potentially address a wide array of therapeutic ...

Substrate‐Selective Inhibition of the SARS‐CoV‐2 Papain‐Like Protease: Inhibition of Hydrolysis of Human Over Viral Substrates

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The SARS‐CoV‐2 papain‐like protease (PLpro) is a medicinal chemistry target. Here we report mass spectrometry assays employing oligopeptide substrates based on the sequences of the viral polyproteins 1a/1ab and on an ISG15‐modified human protein, which enabled the identification of substrate‐selective PLpro inhibitors.

Construction of poly(dopamine) doped oligopeptide hydrogel

open access: yes, 2017
Incorporation of poly(dopamine) (PDA) into the native oligopeptide hydrogel not only improve the rigidity but also endow the hydrogel with efficient free radical scavenging ability.

Modulation of gut microbiota and serum metabolome by Apostichopus japonicus derived oligopeptide in high-fructose diet-induced hyperuricemia in mice

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness
Fructose consumption has risen dramatically in recent decades due to the use of sucrose and high fructose corn syrup in beverages and processed foods, contributing to rising rates of hyperuricemia.

Proteomic profiling of Elp1‐deficient trigeminal ganglia reveals disruption of neurotrophic and metabolic pathways in a familial dysautonomia mouse model

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Elp1, a subunit of the Elongator complex, is essential for tRNA modification and neuronal development. Mutations in ELP1 underlie familial dysautonomia (FD), a disorder marked by sensory and autonomic neuropathy. While loss of Elp1 disrupts trigeminal ganglion formation and survival, the downstream molecular consequences remain ...

Peptide Uptake Is Essential for Borrelia burgdorferi Viability and Involves Structural and Regulatory Complexity of its Oligopeptide Transporter

open access: yesmBio, 2017
Borrelia burgdorferi is an extreme amino acid (AA) auxotroph whose genome encodes few free AA transporters and an elaborate oligopeptide transport system (B. burgdorferi Opp [BbOpp]).

Almond (Amygdalus communis L.) Peptides Improve Scopolamine‐Induced Learning and Memory Impairment in Mice

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Figure Schematic showing the improvement of almond peptides on learning and memory impairment induced by scopolamine in mice. Almond peptides (APs) could improve the learning and memory in scopolamine‐induced mice by maintaining cholinergic system homeostasis and regulating Nrf2/Keap1 signaling pathway, via activating the Nrf2 transcription factor and ...

Oligopeptide-decorated liquid crystal droplets for detecting proteases

open access: yes, 2015
We prepared the bioactive liquid crystal (LC) droplets by decorating an oligopeptide at the LC/aqueous interface to stabilize the LC droplets. These LC droplets can be used to detect proteases through the specific cleavage of protease on an oligopeptide ...

[PSI+] maintenance is dependent on the composition, not primary sequence, of the oligopeptide repeat domain. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
[PSI(+)], the prion form of the yeast Sup35 protein, results from the structural conversion of Sup35 from a soluble form into an infectious amyloid form.
