AZFb microdeletions and oligozoospermia—which mechanisms?
Fertility and Sterility, 2012To characterize the deletion patterns and its breakpoints in oligozoospermic patients presenting AZFb and AZFc microdeletions and to understand the recombination mechanisms underlying these microdeletions.Case report.Genetics Department of Faculty of Medicine of Porto, Porto, Portugal. Two men with severe oligozoospermia and two men with nonobstructive ...

FSH in the treatment of oligozoospermia
Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 2000The aim of this study was to individuate parameters able to distinguish oligozoospermic subjects who will respond to follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) therapy. A group of 135 oligozoospermic subjects was divided in three groups considering basal FSH and inhibin B concentrations: group A (normal FSH and inhibin B) characterized by moderate ...

Releasing Factor Tests in Men with Oligozoospermia
British Journal of Urology, 1979SUMMARY— FSH levels were assayed in 300 men attending with infertile marriages. From this number, releasing factor tests were carried out in 24 men with oligozoospermia and an initial FSH below our normal mean. In all of these cases there was a response to releasing factor.

Familial occurrence of azoospermia and extreme oligozoospermia
Clinical Genetics, 1984To determine the familial incidence of azoospermia and extreme oligozoospermiak (AEO; sperm counts < 3 106/ml) 147 men with primary AEO were asked, by means of mailed questionnaires, for the occurrence of infertility among their brothers. 119 questionnaires were completed (81 %).

Recombinant FSH in the treatment of oligozoospermia
Expert Opinion on Biological Therapy, 2009FSH plays a crucial role in human reproduction. Treatment with gonadotrophins has been shown to be effective in males affected by hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism. The success of this treatment has brought about the utilization of the same therapy in infertile oligozoospermic subjects, aimed at obtaining increased sperm count.

Seminal plasma transferrin concentration in idiopathic oligozoospermia
Urology, 1989To investigate whether or not transferrin production is decreased in the testis of idiopathic oligozoospermia, the seminal plasma transferrin concentration was measured and the values were compared in two groups (15 men of pregnancy-proved normozoospermia and 22 patients with idiopathic oligozoospermia).

[Oligozoospermia in Klinefelter's syndrome].
Der Hautarzt; Zeitschrift fur Dermatologie, Venerologie, und verwandte Gebiete, 1977Case report of a 31 year old male with a 47-XXY-Klinefelter-syndrome which showed a maximum of 4,0 million spermatozoa/ml with a motility of up to 51% in his ejaculate. No rise of spermatozoa counts could be observed after 3x25 mg mesterolone/day over 8 weeks.

Treatment of idiopathic oligozoospermia with tamoxifen.
Acta Europaea fertilitatis, 1985Eighteen subfertile men, with idiopathic normogonadotropic oligozoospermia were treated with an antiestrogenic compound, tamoxifen (Nolvadex), at the dose of 20 mg/day for four months. Hormonal parameters (LH, FSH, Testosterone, Prolactin) were evaluated before treatment and after 45 and 90 days of therapy.

Azoospermia and Oligozoospermia Etiology and Clinical Findings
Archives of Andrology, 1983Three hundred sixty infertile men with sperm counts below 10 million/ml have been through a complete clinical investigation. The most important etiological factors are discussed and the findings at the clinical examination of the genitalia externa and prostate/seminal vesicles are reported.
