Hominoid‐specific calretinin‐immunopositivity of the optic radiation (geniculocalcarine tract)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 5, Page 1343-1367, May 2026.
Calretinin‐immunostained coronal section through the primary (V1) and extrastriate (ExSt) cortex of the lar gibbon. Note that the optic radiation (OR) is strongly calretinin‐immunoreactive. This calretinin‐immunopositivity of the OR distinguishes the Hominoidea from other primates in terms of the neurochemistry of the OR.

A Core Head, Neck, and Neuroanatomy Syllabus for Physical Therapy Student Education

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, Volume 39, Issue 4, Page 436-460, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Head, neck, and neuroanatomy are essential components of physical therapy education due to their broad clinical applications. Detailed syllabi exist for medical students, yet none have been developed for physical therapy. This study aimed to produce an International Federation of Associations of Anatomists core head, neck, and neuroanatomy ...

Patterns of convergence in the central nucleus of the inferior colliculus of the Mongolian gerbil: organization of inputs from the superior olivary complex in the low frequency representation

open access: yesFrontiers in Neural Circuits, 2013
Projections to the inferior colliculus from the lateral and medial superior olivary nuclei were studied in the gerbil (Meriones unguiculatus) with neuroanatomical tract-tracing methods. The terminal fields of projecting axons were labeled via anterograde

Neurophysiological sensitivity to envelope and pulse timing interaural time differences in cochlear implanted rats with different hearing experiences

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 10, Page 3875-3894, 15 May 2026.
Abstract figure legend Graphical summary of our study. Rats with varying hearing experiences were bilaterally implanted with cochlear implants (CIs), and neural responses were recorded from the inferior colliculus (IC), an auditory midbrain region (left).

Bilateral Wallerian Degeneration of the Middle Cerebellar Peduncle and Unilateral Hypertrophic Olivary Degeneration Secondary to Pontine Hemorrhage: A Case Report

open access: yes대한영상의학회지, 2018
The two distinct types of axonal degeneration that occur after neuronal injury include Wallerian degeneration (WD) and transneuronal degeneration. The most commonly recognizable cause of secondary degeneration is cerebral infarction, but may also include

Collateralization of cerebellar output to functionally distinct brainstem areas. A retrograde, non-fluorescent tracing study in the rat

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2014
The organization of the cerebellum is characterized by a number of longitudinally organized connection patterns that consist of matching olivo-cortico-nuclear zones.

Die Olive ( Nucleus olivaris ) des blaufuchses [PDF]

open access: yesActa Theriologica, 1968

The Olivary Hypothesis of Essential Tremor: Time to Lay this Model to Rest?

open access: yesTremor and Other Hyperkinetic Movements, 2017
Background: Although essential tremor (ET) is the most common tremor disorder, its pathogenesis is not fully understood. The traditional model of ET, proposed in the early 1970s, posited that the inferior olivary nucleus (ION) was the prime generator of ...

Wernekink Commissure Syndrome Secondary to Bilateral Caudal Paramedian Midbrain Infarction Presenting with a Unique “Heart or V” Appearance Sign: Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2017
Wernekink commissure syndrome secondary to caudal paramedian midbrain infarction (CPMI) is a rare midbrain syndrome involving the decussation of the superior cerebellar peduncle in the caudal paramedian midbrain tegmentum. The central characteristics are
