The present study established an efficient technology for summer flounder (Paralichthys dentatus) sperm cryopreservation, and successfully applied the cryopreserved sperm into interspecific hybridization with olive flounder (P olivaceus). The best motility of postthaw sperm (78.00 ± 4.70% and 76.60 ± 7.90%), fertilization rates (95.70 ± 3.60% and 79.40

Transcriptome profiling of olive flounder responses under acute and chronic heat stress
Genes & Genomics, 2021The olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) is a saltwater fish, which is valuable to the economy. The olive flounder strives to adapt to environmental stressors through physiological, biochemical, and transcriptional responses. The rise in water temperature threatens the growth, development, reproduction, and survival of olive flounder.

Probiotics and Antimicrobial Proteins, 2021
In recent years, considerable and growing attention has been given to the application of host-associated microorganisms as a more suitable source of probiotics in aquaculture sector. Herein, we isolated and screened the olive flounder gut microbiota for beneficial bacterial strains that might serve as potential probiotics in a low fishmeal extruded ...

Pharmacokinetics of amoxicillin trihydrate in cultured olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)
Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2014The study was aimed at investigating the pharmacokinetics of amoxicillin trihydrate (AMOX) in olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) following oral, intramuscular, and intravenous administration, using high‐performance liquid chromatography following. The maximum plasma concentration (Cmax), following oral administration of 40 and 80 mg/kg body weight

Cloning and characterization of phospholipase D from olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2008The phospholipase D1 (PLD1) cDNA, designated PoPLD, encoding a predicted protein of 1053 amino acids in olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) has been cloned. The deduced amino acid sequence shares high identity with that of PLD1s and PLD2 in human, rat and mouse.

The hybrid between olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus and stone flounder Kareius bicoloratus was produced by artificial insemination of olive flounder eggs with stone flounder sperm. Sinistral and dextral are two types of hybrid progeny after metamorphosis. Karyotypes of both hybrid flounders are the same as those of the two parental species. Of the

Microbial diversity in the intestine of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)
Aquaculture, 2013Abstract The gastrointestinal tract is colonized by micro-organisms which have either beneficial or harmful effects on the host. In spite of the economic importance of olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, there is, only limited information on microbial diversity in the intestine.

The histophagous scuticociliate Philasterides dicentrarchi causes fatal scuticociliatosis in farmed olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. The average monthly prevalence of scuticociliatosis with P. dicentrarchi infections was very high from May to July (40+/-3 to 79+/-2%) in olive flounder at farms of Jeju Island, South Korea, from 2000 to 2004.

Distribution of marine birnavirus in cultured olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus in Korea
The Journal of Microbiology, 2008Surveys of marine birnavirus (MABV) were undertaken in cultured olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus from the south and west coastal areas and Jeju in Korea during the period January 1999 to April 2007. MABV was detected in all seasons from the fry, juveniles and adult fish from the areas examined.
