1. Experimental Investigation of Hydrous Melting of the Earth’s Upper Mantle, and 2. Olivine Abundances and Compositions in Hawaiian Lavas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
(1) The presence of small amounts of water dissolved within nominally-anhydrous minerals in the earth has significant effects on the chemistry of melting in the Earth’s mantle.

Stratigraphic position and diversity occurrences of basic alkaline igneous rocks in the Permian sedimentary strata, Central Alborz Zone [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2018
A completely lithologic sequence of Permian strata including Doroud (mainly of sandstone and shale), Ruteh (mainly of limestone with interbed marl) and Nesen (mainly of limestone and shale) formations is exist in Central Alborz zone from Siyah-Bishe and ...

Achieving sustainable and durable concrete using high‐volume SiO2: Engineering properties, environmental and economic benefits

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This study explores the potential of high‐volume amorphous silica (SiO2) replacement for ordinary Portland cement (OPC) in concrete to reduce carbon emissions. Amorphous SiO2, such as silica fume (SF) and CO2 mineralization‐produced Si‐rich gel, offers superior properties to concrete but is under‐researched for its use in concrete with high ...

Multiscale modeling of upper mantle plasticity: From single-crystal rheology to multiphase aggregate deformation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We report a first application of an improved second-order (SO) viscoplastic self-consistent model for multiphase aggregates, applied to an olivine + diopside aggregate as analogue for a dry upper mantle peridotite deformed at 10 15 s 1 shear strain rate ...

Evidence for suboceanic small-scale convection from a “garnet”-bearing lherzolite xenolith from Aitutaki Island, Cook Islands

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science
Garnet peridotite xenoliths have been rarely reported from suboceanic mantle. Petrographic and geochemical characteristics of garnet-bearing oceanic peridotite xenoliths provide precious information on dynamics of the suboceanic lithosphere and ...

Esquel Meteorite, a Forgotten Argentine Peridot: A Multi Analytical Study

open access: yesSpectroscopy Journal
The Esquel pallasite provides a valuable record of metal–silicate interaction in differentiated planetesimals, yet many aspects of its formation and thermal evolution remain uncertain.

RELICTS OF THE PRIMARY MAGMATIC ACCESSORY SPINELS IN THE ARCHEAN KOMATIITES OF THE EASTERN FENNOSCANDIA

open access: yesTransactions of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 2015
The article presents the results of a complex study of the relicts of the primary magmatic spinels from the Archean (3.0-2.7 Ga) komatiitic series of the greenstone structures of the eastern Fennoscandian Shield. The accessory minerals of the massive and

Dynamic phase boundaries of olivine‐wadsleyite in subduction zones in the western Pacific [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2002
A modified coupling scheme is proposed to calculate the thermal structures and the kinetics of olivine to wadsleyite phase transformation in subduction zones, which assures a high computational precision. The phase and thermal structures of some subduction zones in the western Pacific region are calculated.

Description and terrestrial ages of the Calama Area Meteorite Collection (Atacama Desert, Chile)

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We present a comprehensive study of a meteorite collection from the Atacama Desert (Chile), the driest and most climatically stable desert in the world. This collection includes meteorites from three adjacent Dense Collection Areas (DCAs) in the northern part of the Atacama Desert: Calama, Sierra Gorda, and Chug Chug, referred to as the ...

Mineral Chemistry Studies on Pyroxenes in Fe Skarns in the West of Elazığ (Turkey); Their Role in the Skarn Mineralization Process

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study presents the first detailed investigation of pyroxene zoning within polymetallic skarn zones of the Elazığ region. Skarns develop along contacts between plutonic rocks (diorite and granite) and carbonate rocks, forming two main zones ...
