Introduction Lamprophyres are mesocratic to melanocratic igneous rocks, usually hypabyssal, with a panidiomorphic texture and abundant mafic phenocrysts of dark mica or amphibole (or both) with or without pyroxene, with or without olivine, set in a ...

Abstract Modeling processes within Earth's and other planetary bodies' mantle requires constraints from phase equilibrium to infer how changes in phase abundance and composition affect physical properties and geochemical processes. When applying such thermodynamic models on a planetary scale, performance becomes especially crucial.

Mineralogy and Petrology of an Olivine Diabase Sill Complex and Associated Unusually Potassic Granophyres, Sierra Ancha, Central Arizona [PDF]
The Precambrian Sierra Ancha sill complex, 700 to 800 feet thick, was intruded into flat-lying sedimentary rocks of the Apache Group in central Arizona. The bulk of the complex consists of a central layer of feldspathic olivine-rich diabase and upper and

Rodingite‐Derived Melt as a Recipe for Ultra‐Calcic Magmas
Abstract Rodingite is a high‐CaO rock formed by Ca‐rich fluid metasomatism on mafic protoliths. It typically occurs within serpentinite and represents an often‐overlooked constituent of the altered oceanic lithosphere that may be subducted into the mantle.

Compositional Zoning in Kilauea Olivine: A Geochemical Tool for Investigating Magmatic Processes at Hawaiian Volcanoes [PDF]
Olivine compositions and zoning patterns have been widely used to investigate the evolution of magmas from their source to the Earth’s surface. Modeling the formation of compositional zoning in olivine crystals has been used to retrieve timescales of ...

It has been previously demonstrated that as little as 300 ppmw H_2O increases wadsleyite and ringwoodite growth rates to magnitudes that are inconsistent with the metastable olivine hypothesis. To further test this hypothesis, we present new ringwoodite growth rate measurements from olivine with ∼75 ppmw H_2O at 18 GPa and 700, 900, and 1100 °C.

Abstract Hardware released during spacecraft entry can generate hypervelocity impacts that provide unique constraints on planetary subsurface properties. During NASA's Perseverance descent, two tungsten cruise ballast mass devices (CBMD) and fragments of the cruise stage formed meter‐scale craters north‐west of Jezero crater, in one of the sinuous ...

Origin of olivine megacrysts and the groundmass crystallization of the Dar al Gani 476 shergottite [PDF]
P(論文)The DaG 476 martian meteorite shows a porphyritic texture with megacrysts of olivine and orthopyroxene set in a groundmass of pyroxene and maskelynite.
