Maternal Fish Intake in the Year Prior to Conception and Birth Defects, National Birth Defects Prevention Study, 1997–2011

open access: yesBirth Defects Research, Volume 118, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Epidemiologic data on the association between maternal fish intake and birth defects are sparse. Our objective was to assess associations between maternal fish intake and 52 different birth defects, most of which have not been assessed previously.

Thermal Jeans fragmentation within 1000 AU in OMC-1S

open access: yes, 2018
We present subarcsecond 1.3 mm continuum ALMA observations towards the Orion Molecular Cloud 1 South (OMC-1S) region, down to a spatial resolution of 74 AU, which reveal a total of 31 continuum sources.

Shock Excited H_2 Flows in OMC-2 and OMC-3

open access: yes, 1997
We report the discovery of nearly a dozen collimated outflows from young stellar objects embedded in the molecular filament that extends north of the Orion Nebula towards the H II region NGC 1977. The large number of nearly co-eval outflows and embedded class-0 young stellar objects indicates that the OMC-2/3 region is one of the most active sites of ...

Impact of conductive magnetite nanoparticles and anode polarization on glucose fermentation

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, Volume 101, Issue 5, Page 1027-1034, May 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Electrically conductive materials and electrochemical stimulation strategies are increasingly explored to steer microbial fermentation towards desired metabolic outputs. These approaches also hold remarkable potential to couple wastewater treatment (WWT) to the production of value‐added compounds, in turn enhancing environmental ...

Optimization of fuel cell membrane electrode assemblies for transition metal ion-chelating ordered mesoporous carbon cathode catalysts

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2014
Transition metal ion-chelating ordered mesoporous carbon (TM-OMC) materials were recently shown to be efficient polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) catalysts.

Temperature Dependence of Paramagnetic Species in the Human Brain Tissue: An X‐Band EPR Study

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 5, Page 3031-3043, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Paramagnetic ions are distributed throughout the human brain. The increased accumulation of these metals, such as iron and copper, can induce cellular death and the development of neurological diseases. Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) is a spectroscopic technique capable of detecting these ions in a given biological sample ...

Assessing Age‐Associated Influences on Paramagnetic and Diamagnetic Susceptibility Maps in Postmortem Human Brains

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 5, May 2026.
We applied the APART‐QSM method to in situ postmortem MRI from 47 subjects (31–91 years) to assess age effects on paramagnetic and diamagnetic susceptibility. Diamagnetic susceptibility declined with age in basal ganglia, possibly reflecting shared biological factors.
