Sinonasal Inflammatory Burden on Computed Tomography in Adults With Obstructive Eustachian Tube Dysfunction: A Case–Control Study

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD) frequently coexist, yet objective data quantifying their relationship remain scarce. Because both conditions can reflect shared mucosal inflammation, we investigated whether adults with objectively verified ETD harbor a larger paranasal sinus inflammatory burden on

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 13, 8 July 2026.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Optimization of fuel cell membrane electrode assemblies for transition metal ion-chelating ordered mesoporous carbon cathode catalysts

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2014
Transition metal ion-chelating ordered mesoporous carbon (TM-OMC) materials were recently shown to be efficient polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) catalysts.

Assessing Surgical Extent in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery: A Scoping Review of Scoring Systems

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, Volume 16, Issue 7, Page 695-715, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) varies substantially in the extent of surgical dissection performed, even when described under the same procedural label. In chronic rhinosinusitis, this heterogeneity may influence postoperative outcomes, revision rates, and response to biologic therapies.

Effects of Chemical Surface Treatments on the Structural and Durability Performance of Coffee Husk Reinforced Laterite Blocks

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2026.
The efficacy of combined chemical treatments is clearly shown in this study to greatly improve the structural strength, bonding, and durability of coffee husk‐reinforced laterite blocks. The combined NaOH and silane treatment is the most effective method of improving the strength and water resistance of earthen construction materials.

Thermoelectric MOFs and Machine Learning Databases for Prediction of Next Generation Materials

open access: yesEcoMat, Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2026.
Machine learning prediction of next generation thermoelectric MOFs using new databases. Three stages of training, validation, and prediction are developed based on a comprehensive review of conductive MOFs. ABSTRACT Electrically conducting metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been studied over the last two decades and more recently research has gained ...

Upper and small bowel Crohn's disease in Brazilian children: Phenotypic characteristic and surgical risk

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Volume 83, Issue 1, Page 87-95, July 2026.
Abstract Objectives Upper and small bowel Crohn's disease (U‐SBCD) represents a clinically aggressive phenotype with high complication rates yet remains diagnostically challenging. In low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs), limited inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) awareness contributes to diagnostic delays, but their impact on U‐SBCD outcomes remains

Communication Partner Training Practices for People With Aphasia Among Latin American Speech and Language Therapists: A Survey of Implementation Barriers and Facilitators

open access: yesInternational Journal of Language &Communication Disorders, Volume 61, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Communication Partner Training (CPT) is an evidence‐based approach that enhances conversation and participation for people with aphasia (PwA) by involving their communication partners (CPs) in therapy. Although CPT is endorsed in international guidelines, little is known about its application in Latin American contexts, where ...
