Incidence of medication administration errors in Ethiopia: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies [PDF]

open access: yesPatient Safety and Quality Improvement Journal, 2019
Introduction: In Ethiopia, the overall incidence of medication administration errors (MAEs) has been variously estimated within the range of 16% to 99%; a wide range and difficult to conclude. Thus, this study aimed to assess the pooled incidence of MAEs

Guiding AlphaFold to predict how Munc13‐1 opens Syntaxin‐1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The syntaxin‐1 Habc‐domain (orange), linker (pink) and SNARE motif (yellow) form a closed conformation that binds to Munc18‐1 (violet) and is opened by the Munc13‐1 MUN domain (cyan) to form the SNARE complex that triggers neurotransmitter release.

How do omission and commission errors of trait memory distrust relate to immediate and delayed suggestibility as measured by the Gudjonsson Suggestibility Scale?

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
The main purpose of the current study was to test the hypothesis that immediate and delayed suggestibility, measured by the Gudjonsson Suggestibility Scale (GSS 2), are more strongly associated with perceived susceptibility to commission errors in memory

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Avidin is evolutionarily conserved in fish but dispensable for development and resistance against Streptococcus agalactiae in zebrafish

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...
