The present paper aims to reconsider the etymology of Serbian omorika ‘spruce’ in the light of a new evidence, both historical and dialectal, suggesting that the Old Serbian form of the word was homorika, with its closest parallel in Czech obsolete chomor ‘conifer litter’.
