The sensitivity of embryogenic tissue of Picea omorika (Panč.) Purk. to antibiotics
Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 2001In an attempt to develop a transformation procedure for somatic embryos of Picea omorika (Panč.) Purk. using Agrobacterium, the sensitivity of non-transformed embryogenic tissues of P. omorika to antibiotics was measured. Two groups of antibiotics were tested: antibiotics commonly used to eliminate Agrobacterium from tissue culture (carbenicillin and ...

Essential Oil Variability in Natural Populations of Picea omorika, a Rare European Conifer
Chemistry & Biodiversity, 2009AbstractThis study is the first report on the composition and variability of essential oil in the relic, endemic, and vulnerable tree species Serbian spruce, Picea omorika, in its natural populations. In the needles of 108 trees of four natural populations, 49 components of essential oils were identified. The main compounds were bornyl acetate (29.2%),

Conservation Genetics, 2013
Serbian spruce, Picea omorika (Panc.) Purk., is a cold-adapted conifer confined to an area of c. 10,000 km2 within the Balkans. This area, which has not been exposed to severe anthropogenic disturbances in the recent past, represents a long-term cryptic refugium of this species.

Regeneration of picea Omorika And pinus Heldreichii By Tissue Culture Methods
1998Serbian spruce, Picea omorika (Panc.) Purk. And whitebark pine, Pinus heldreichii (Christ.) are Tertiary relic and endemic species. Picea omorika is endemic to the Balkan Peninsula and is restricted to small localities in Serbia and Bosnia. As a decorative tree it is frequently planted in parks and gardens of many European countries.

DNA Methylation During Somatic Embryogenesis of Picea omorika
2003The DNA methylation of Picea omorika line BB19, in correlation with embryogenic potential and embryo maturation, was investigated. Cytosine methylation level was detected using random amplification coupled with restriction enzyme digestion. The long– term embryogenic cultures were maintained on the induction medium (IM): basic LP supplemented ...

Standardization of gymnosperm karyotypes using Picea omorika as an example
Forest genetics, 1996The karyotype analysis of a single Picea omorika (Panč.) Purk. tree was completed using female gametophyte tissue. Most chromosomes (n=12) were metacentric, but chromosomes IX and XII were submetacentric. The positions of the centromeres of chromosomes X and XI wereclose to submetacentric, but were classified as metacentric.

Dc3 promoter activity in tranformed somatic embryos of omorika spruce (Picea omorika (Panč.) Purk.)
