High selfing and skewed reproductive success in the northernmost, extremely small and remote population of Pinus parviflora var. pentaphylla

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, Volume 41, Issue 1, January 2026.
The northernmost population of Japanese white pine is extremely small and isolated. The spatial genetic structure of this population is conspicuously strong. It is surprising to find the most of the understory individuals were derived from self‐fertilization of a single reproductive tree.

Resolving the effects of functional traits on tree growth rates: The influence of temporal dynamics and divergent strategies by leaf habit

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 11, Page 3191-3209, November 2025.
Functional traits are not consistently associated with tree growth rates but instead reflect dynamic resource acquisition and investment strategies over time and between deciduous and evergreen species. Despite this variability, our findings confirm the utility of functional traits to predict tree growth rates, especially when trait effects are ...

Somatic embryogenesis in Picea omorika (Panč.) Purk

open access: yesActa pharmaceutica, 1995
Somatic embryogenesis in Picea omorika was successfully induced on LP medium supplemented with 10 uM 2, 4-D and 5 uM BA. Maturation was achieved on one half strength LP medium supplemented with 20 uM ABA.The prottein pattern of embryogenic callus culture showed two characteristic proteins that belongs to the storage protein group.
