Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Thermosonication enhanced the bioactive, antioxidant, and flavor attributes of freshly squeezed tomato juice

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry
The sterilization of freshly squeezed juices typically results in a compromise to the natural flavor, bio-active components, and nutritional value. Developing a new sterilization method for controlling the diverse effects has emerged as a significant ...

An Embedded Test & Health Monitoring Strategy for Detecting and Locating Faults in Aerospace Bus Systems. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A new test & measurement strategy for on-line health monitoring of Mil-Std-1553 data bus is proposed. The method monitors the signal quality at multiple points on the data bus and uses the voltage measurements to detect and locate defects.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Partial discharge on-line monitoring for HV cable systems using electro-optic modulators

open access: yes, 2004
A technique for the remote inspection and monitoring of partial discharge (PD) activity using an optical network is described. The network uses a LiNbO3 modulator to modulate the intensity of the transmitted laser light approximately proportional to the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Light Absorption Properties of Brown Carbon Aerosol During Winter at a Polluted Rural Site in the North China Plain

open access: yesAtmosphere
Brown carbon aerosols (BrC), a subfraction of organic aerosols, significantly influence the atmospheric environment, climate and human health. The North China Plain (NCP) is a hotspot for BrC research in China, yet our understanding of the optical ...
