Ondansetron‐induced pseudoallergy with non‐ischemic myocardial injury: A rare case report of Kounis syndrome

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2022
Ondansetron is an FDA‐approved selective serotonin 5‐HT3 receptor commonly indicated as an anti‐emetic agent for nausea and vomiting. It is rare to observe fatal reactions from ondansetron despite having no allergies or previous exposure.

Comparison of ondansetron with ondansetron and dexamethasone in prevention of PONV in diagnostic laparoscopy [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Anesthesia/Journal canadien d'anesthésie, 1999
To compare the efficacy of ondansetron-dexamethasone combination with ondansetron alone for prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).This double blind, randomized study was carried out in 51 female patients, aged 20-40 yr, ASA-1 physical status undergoing gynecological diagnostic laparoscopy. Group 1 (n = 26) received 4 mg ondansetron i.v.

Ondansetron blocks wild-type and p.F503L variant small-conductance Ca2+-activated K+ channels.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology. Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 2018
Apamin-sensitive small-conductance Ca2+-activated K+ (SK) current ( IKAS) is encoded by Ca2+-activated K+ channel subfamily N ( KCNN) genes. IKAS importantly contributes to cardiac repolarization in conditions associated with reduced repolarization ...

Ondansetron in Multiple Sclerosis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pain and Symptom Management, 2000
Two young women with chronic nausea and vertigo caused by multiple sclerosis responded to the introduction and maintenance of the 5HT3 receptor antagonist, ondansetron. Palliative care is a neglected aspect of management of degenerative neurological diseases and these cases highlight the approaches that may be used to manage difficult symptoms in the ...

Description of unilateral kidney embolism and contralateral nephrectomy as a less invasive remnant kidney model in cats; a proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Unilateral, minimally invasive, renal arterial embolization and delayed contralateral nephrectomy was described in cats as a novel remnant kidney model of chronic kidney disease using two doses of embolic particles. Renal function declined and characteristic histopathological markers of kidney disease were present 6 months after the embolism procedure.
