Effect of Different Acid-Etchings on the Shear Bond Strength to the Enamel Using the Fifth-Generation Dentin Bonding Agent [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mashhad Dental School, 2021
Introduction: Changes in the enamel structure using a suitable acid for adequate time are the basic method of retention and strength of the composite restorations.

One-Way Shear Design Method Based on a Multi-Action Model

open access: yesACI Concrete International, 2017
It is widely known that the shear strength of a reinforced concrete (RC) or prestressed concrete (PC) beam results from the interaction of different resisting actions. Thus, available simplified shear models emphasize different resisting actions. The model described herein is a simplification of the multi-action shear model the authors developed.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

A shear-stress responsive nano-container to target critically constricted arteries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Atherosclerosis and associated cardiovascular diseases are the world's biggest cause of mortality. During the acute case of heart attack, vasodilators are administered to open up the constricted artery and allow blood perfusion to the surrounding tissue.

Punching strengthen

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2015
An experimental and analytical study on the punching strengthening of reinforced concrete two-way slabs using external steel plates is presented. Five reinforced concrete square slabs of 100 mm thickness were tested over simply supported four sides of ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Punching shear strength of steel fibre reinforced lightweight concrete slabs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
One of the problems in slab-column connections is the punching shear failure at over loads. Such failures are sudden and catastrophic, and are undesirable since they do not allow an overall yield mechanism to ...

Mathematical Modeling for the Optimal Cost Design of Circular Isolated Footings with Eccentric Column

open access: yesMathematics
This article shows a model for the design of circular isolated footings and the column placed anywhere in the footing under minimum cost criteria. Some designs for obtaining the diameter, effective depth, and steel areas of the footing under biaxial ...

Assessment of shear strength of reinforced concrete beams without shear reinforcement: A comparative study between codes of practice and artificial neural network

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
Despite 70 years of investigations in understanding the shear behaviour of reinforced concrete members, it is again gaining attention among structural engineers as the recently issued Australian concrete design standard, AS 3600 updated its shear ...
