Evaluation on Flexural Performance of One-Way Hollow Slabs according to the Shear Reinforcement [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Association for Spatial Structures, 2014
The purpose of this study is intended to determine the validity of shear reinforcement by evaluating flexural performance in the hollow slab. The hollow slab is relatively light and second moment of inertia is large. Due to these characteristics, it can be used to slab system efficiently.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Linear instability of planar shear banded flow of both diffusive and non-diffusive Johnson-Segalman fluids

open access: yes, 2006
We consider the linear stability of shear banded planar Couette flow of the Johnson-Segalman fluid, with and without the addition of stress diffusion to regularise the equations.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Consideration on punching shear strength of steel-fiber-reinforced concrete slabs

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
The flat plate slab system is widely used in construction fields due to its excellent constructability and savings in story height compared to the conventional beam-column moment-resisting system.

ONE-WAY SLABS IN TRANSITION BETWEEN ONE-WAY SHEAR AND PUNCHING: EXPERIMENTS AND RECENT INSIGHTS FOR EVALUATION

open access: yesProceedings of International Structural Engineering and Construction
Bridge deck slabs are members on which one-way reinforced concrete slabs are found frequently loaded by concentrated loads. Although the one-way shear failure mechanism has gathered more attention in the past years, both one-way shear and two-way shear mechanisms may be critical for such loading conditions. This paper addressed the ultimate capacity of

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Shear instabilities in shallow-water magnetohydrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The interaction of horizontal shear flows and magnetic fields in stably stratified layers is central to many problems in astrophysical fluid dynamics.
