More Than One Step to Financial Stability [PDF]

open access: yes
Visiting Scholar Garry Schinasi examines the European proposals for the creation of both a European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) to oversee macroprudential regulation and a European System of Financial Supervision (ESFS) to strengthen microprudential ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Evaluating the efficacy of reprocessing contaminated single use devices for re-use in intensive care unit in Ethiopia

open access: yesAntimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control
Background Single use devices (SUDs) are designed for single use. However, in low-income countries, they are often reprocessed and reused. Because these devices are intended for single use, no standardized protocol for reprocessing these devices ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Real-world evidence couples genomic biomarkers with therapeutic outcomes for canine hemangiosarcoma

open access: yesScientific Reports
Splenic hemangiosarcoma (HSA) is a common canine tumor with histology and genetics analogous to human angiosarcoma (AS), a rare and aggressive malignancy arising from vascular cells.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
