Arp2/3 complex and β1 integrin drive an invasive front through extracellular matrix adaptation in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 11, Page 3038-3050, 1 June 2026.
What's new? Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is characterized by a dense extracellular matrix, and how invasive tumor cells overcome such biomechanical constraints remains unclear. This study identifies the actin‐related protein 2/3 complex as a key regulator of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma invasiveness, driving fibroblast migration through β1 ...

Exercise Modalities to Preserve Muscle Mass and Bone Health After Metabolic Bariatric Surgery

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS) effectively reduces fat mass (FM), but how to best preserve muscle and bone mass after MBS is unknown. Objective This study aimed to evaluate the effect of aerobic, resistance and combined exercise regimens on body composition, bone mineral density (BMD) and physical function in adults following MBS.

RAGE Re‐Expressed at Myofibre Level Drives Muscle Wasting in Cancer Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cancer cachexia (CC) is a highly debilitating syndrome characterized by loss of body and muscle weight affecting most advanced cancer patients. The receptor for advanced glycation end‐products (RAGE) is expressed by several cell types and sustains the inflammatory response in acute and chronic diseases. Total ablation of RAGE (Ager−/

Tumor‐Resident Mast Cells Facilitated Breast Cancer Progression via Activating Type I Interferon Pathway

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Breast cancer cell‐derived stem cell factor (SCF) activates c‐KIT‐mediated MAPK/ERK signaling in mast cells, inducing IFNB1 production. Mast cell‐derived IFNB1 then engages the IFNAR1‐STAT1 axis in breast cancer cells, activating the Type I interferon pathway to promote tumor stemness and progression.

Oncology Rehabilitation in Australia: A National Survey Update

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, Volume 22, Issue 3, Page 473-482, June 2026.
Our cross‐sectional survey found that the number of exercise‐based oncology rehabilitation programs in Australia had increased from 31 programs in 2015 to 76 programs in 2024. However, nationwide program availability remains poor. ABSTRACT Introduction Few exercise‐based oncology rehabilitation programs were available across Australia in 2015. Clinical
