The SPAR Ontologies

open access: yes, 2018
Abstract Over the past eight years, we have been involved in the development of a set of complementary and orthogonal ontologies that can be used for the description of the main areas of the scholarly publishing domain, known as the SPAR (Semantic Publishing and Referencing) Ontologies.

Mechanically and Chemically Defined PEG Hydrogels Improve Reproducibility in Human Cardioid Development

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Synthetic matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)‐degradable polyethylene glycol (PEG)‐based hydrogels are developed to investigate the influence of mechanical and biochemical cues on cardioid development. Matrix stiffness and cell adhesion motifs significantly regulate cardioid formation, chamber morphogenesis, contractile function, and cardioid transcriptome.

Change Management: The Core Task of Ontology Versioning and Evolution

open access: yes, 2005
Change management as a key issue in ontology versioning and evolution is still not fully addressed, which to some extent forms a barrier against the smooth process of ontology evolution.

SciAgents: Automating Scientific Discovery Through Bioinspired Multi‐Agent Intelligent Graph Reasoning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The SciAgents AI model drives hypothesis generation by harnessing multi‐agent graph reasoning, extracting insights from knowledge graphs constructed from scientific papers. Each agent plays a specific role: the Ontologist defines concepts, the Scientists draft and refine proposals, and the Critic reviews.

Ontology-based Data Access: A Study through Disjunctive Datalog, CSP, and MMSNP [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Ontology-based data access is concerned with querying incomplete data sources in the presence of domain-specific knowledge provided by an ontology. A central notion in this setting is that of an ontology-mediated query, which is a database query coupled with an ontology.

Ontology Merging as Social Choice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The problem of merging several ontologies has important applications in the Semantic Web, medical ontology engineering and other domains where information from several distinct sources needs to be integrated in a coherent manner. We propose
