Loss of Drosophila E3 Ubiquitin Ligase Hyd Promotes Extra Mitosis in Germline Cysts and Massive Cell Death During Oogenesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2020
The Drosophila hyperplastic disc (hyd) gene is the ortholog of mammalian tumor suppressor EDD, which is implicated in a wide variety of cellular processes, and its regulation is impaired in various tumors.

Cloning of the Neurodegeneration Gene \u3cem\u3eDrop-Dead\u3c/em\u3e and Characterization of Additional Phenotypes of its Mutation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Mutations in the Drosophila gene drop-dead (drd) result in early adult lethality and neurodegeneration, but the molecular identity of the drd gene and its mechanism of action are not known.

Foliculogénesis Ovárica en la Raya Marmorada, Sympterygia bonapartii (Müller & Henle, 1841) (Chondrichthyes, Rajidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Los Condrictios se han convertido en un recurso económico importante en las últimas décadas, siendo Argentina uno de los países que más explota tiburones y rayas, incluso a niveles que exceden los límites de varias especies.

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.

Chronic Stress Detrimentally Affects In Vivo Maturation in Rat Oocytes and Oocyte Viability at All Phases of the Estrous Cycle

open access: yesAnimals, 2021
Background: Stress has been considered as one of the causes of decreased reproductive function in women. However, direct evidence of the effect of chronic stress on oocytes depending on estrous cycle phases is limited.

Drosophila Cappuccino alleles provide insight into formin mechanism and role in oogenesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
During Drosophila development, the formin actin nucleator Cappuccino (Capu) helps build a cytoplasmic actin mesh throughout the oocyte. Loss of Capu leads to female sterility, presumably because polarity determinants fail to localize properly in the ...

N4‐acetylcytidine in LncRNA Gm26917 Promotes Translation in Female Germline Stem Cells by Recruiting Ribosomal Protein mRNA via EEF1A1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work establishes that ac4C modification on lncRNA Gm26917 governs its spatial interactions with Rpl10 mRNA, and RBP EEF1A1 mediates the interaction between Gm26917 and Rpl10. It elucidates a novel ac4C‐Gm26917‐EEF1A1‐Rpl10 axis in FGSC maintenance both in vitro and in vivo, and provides a potential molecular target for modulating germ cell ...

Oogenesis in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesSexual Development, 2023
Background: The nematode, Caenorhabditis elegans has proven itself as a valuable model for investigating metazoan biology. C. elegans have a transparent body, an invariant cell lineage, and a high level of genetic conservation which makes it a desirable model organism.

The annual cycle of oogenesis in the shanny, Lipophrys pholis (Pisces: Blenniidae)

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2012
Lipophrys pholis has been shown to be responsive to a variety of environmental contaminants, some of them able to impair reproduction. Description of the normal cycle of oogenesis of this newly proposed sentinel species is important since this data may

Altered germline cyst formation and oogenesis in Tex14 mutant mice

open access: yesBiology Open, 2021
During oocyte differentiation in mouse fetal ovaries, sister germ cells are connected by intercellular bridges, forming germline cysts. Within the cyst, primary oocytes form via gaining cytoplasm and organelles from sister germ cells through germ cell ...
