High-order transverse-magnetic mode Mach-Zehnder modulator for OOK modulation
2018 Asia Communications and Photonics Conference (ACP), 2018We present a silicon Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM) for high-order TM modes. A single-drive push-pull electrode with L-shaped vertical PN-junctions is employed to provide a high modulation efficiency.

Generalized Blind Detection of OOK Modulation for Free-Space Optical Communication
IEEE Communications Letters, 2017For optimal detection of ON – OFF keying symbols in free-space optical (FSO) communication, the receiver requires the instantaneous channel fading coefficient. In this letter, to increase the bandwidth efficiency of the FSO channel, we propose a blind data detection method, i.e., without requiring transmission of any training symbols.

20-Gbps 60-GHz OOK modulator in SiGe BiCMOS technology
2012 International Symposium on Signals, Systems, and Electronics (ISSSE), 2012This paper presents design and characterization of a 60-GHz On-Off Keying (OOK) modulator for low-power ultra-high-speed wireless communications. The circuit operation relies on the active control of the load impedance of a differential pair; in addition, a matched always-off differential pair increases the isolation by cancellation of the off currents.
