Manchester Return-to-Zero On–Off Keying Modulation for Free-Space Optical Communication
This paper proposes a Manchester return-to-zero on–off keying (M-RZ-OOK) modulation for free-space optical (FSO) communication. M-RZ-OOK modulation is achieved by introducing Manchester coding into the RZ-OOK format.

An 80 Gb/s Silicon Photonic Modulator Based on the Principle of Overlapped Resonances
We report a silicon photonic modulator based on a Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) loaded with a microring modulator (MRM) on one arm and a microring resonator (MRR) on the other arm.

Multi-Format Wavelength Conversion Using Quantum Dash Mode-Locked Laser Pumps
We investigate and compare the performance of wavelength conversion for two different non-return-to-zero (NRZ) modulation formats at 40 Gb/s: on off keying (OOK) and differential phase-shift keying (DPSK).

3D‐Nanoprinted Fluidically Steerable Soft Robotic Microcatheters
This work introduces a ∼3‐French (1 mm‐in‐diameter) soft robotic microcatheter fabricated by means of two‐photon direct laser writing. The 3D‐printed microcatheter enables remote, on‐demand steering via microfluidic actuation for guidewire‐free navigation of vascular networks as well as microcatheter‐mediated delivery of fluidic payloads to target ...

Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Differential Modulation and Detection in FSO Systems
In free-space optical (FSO) communication systems, on–off keying (OOK) modulation is widely used due to its simplicity. However, systems applying OOK suffer from the BER floor in atmospheric turbulence channels, leading to persistently high BER even at ...

Epitaxial growth forms III–V membranes directly atop the silicon waveguide layer on SOI, while in‐plane in situ doping defines lateral p–i–n InP/InGaAs junctions in a single growth step. The membrane photodetectors achieve 50 Gb/s NRZ‐OOK operation.
