An array of problems in astronomy, cosmology, and particle physics is dependent on our understanding of the evolution and structure of stars. Stellar structure and evolution, in turn, depend on how the nuclear energy generated in the stellar center is transported to the surface. Energy transport by photons is a primary transfer mechanism.

This essay explicates Édouard Glissant’s aesthetics of opacity in terms of its formation and significance. This theory comes into form in the historical condition of colonial alterity. [Opacity and opacity changes in composites].
Deutsche zahnarztliche Zeitschrift, 1992The opacity of 5 self-curing and 11 light-curing composite resins was measured 24 hours after sample/preparation and after 6 months of storage (dry or in water) by means of an UV-visible spectrophotometer. The opacity of the investigated hybrid composite resins was between 47.3 and 62.4%.

AbstractThere seems to be a lot of opacity in our language. Quotation is opaque. The modal idioms are apparently opaque. Propositional attitude ascriptions seem opaque, as do the environments created by verbs such as ‘seeks’ and ‘fears’. Opacity raises a number of issues — first and foremost, whether there is such a thing.
