A Qualitative Review of Patient Feedback for the OPAT (Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy) Service in Bristol

open access: yesAntibiotics
Outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) aims to deliver intravenous antimicrobials to medically stable patients with complex infections outside of a hospital setting. There is good evidence to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of OPAT in the

Zoonotic Streptococcus canis Bacteremia Following a Dog Scratch in an Elderly Patient With a Nonconditional Pacemaker

open access: yesCase Reports in Infectious Diseases, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Streptococcus canis is a β‐hemolytic Group G streptococcus commonly found in the microbiome of dogs and cats and is an uncommon cause of invasive human infection. Although typically regarded as a veterinary pathogen, S. canis has been reported to cause bacteremia, endocarditis, and other severe infections in humans, particularly in older adults with ...

Outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) and the general physician [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Medicine, 2013
Outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) refers to outpatient or community-based management of an infection via the administration of an intravenous (IV) antimicrobial without an overnight hospital stay. A Review of β‐Lactamase Inhibitors in Clinical Use and Development: Mechanisms, Spectrum, and Therapeutic Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
β‐Lactam antibiotics have long served as a cornerstone for treating bacterial infections. However, their widespread and often indiscriminate use has fueled the emergence of multidrug‐resistant Gram‐negative pathogens, primarily through the production and dissemination of β‐lactamase enzymes.

Provider Experience with Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy in Veterans Affairs Healthcare Systems: a qualitative study

open access: yesAntimicrobial Stewardship & Healthcare Epidemiology
Background: Variability in outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) management and challenges to providing recommended OPAT care can compromise patient safety and care quality. Little is known about how OPAT is currently delivered by healthcare

Qualitative analysis of barriers and facilitators to healthcare engagement for people with injecting‐related invasive infections using a social ecological framework

open access: yesAddiction, Volume 120, Issue 12, Page 2476-2488, December 2025.
Abstract Background and aims Injecting‐related bacterial infections are increasing in many countries. Systemic infections often require prolonged treatment. Evidence suggests that people who inject drugs who have invasive infections are less likely to complete antimicrobial treatment and have poorer outcomes than patients without a history of injecting

Rezafungin Utilisation in Real Life—FungiScope Results From Europe and the United States

open access: yesMycoses, Volume 68, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Rezafungin, a novel echinocandin with once‐weekly intravenous dosing, offers potential advantages for outpatient parenteral antifungal therapy (OPAT) in invasive candidiasis (IC). While clinical trial data support its efficacy and safety, real‐world experience remains limited.

Kinetically Limited Growth of Dendritic Tin Oxide Thin Films: a Machine Learning Study beyond the Structure Zone Diagram

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 32, August 28, 2025.
This work presents a critical evaluation of the empirical Thornton's structure zone diagram, a cornerstone in predicting thin film microstructure. Through transmission electron microscopy, we observe that Sn─O thin films form nanosized dendrites, which are not expected according to the structure zone diagram.
