Simulation of rough wall turbulent channel flow using a parametric forcing approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The effects of rough walls on turbulent channel flow are simulated by adding a simple forcing term to the Navier-Stokes equations. An extensive parameter study is used to explore the effects of this term on turbulent channel flow.

Turbulent Micropolar Open-Channel Flow

open access: yesFluids
The present paper focuses on the investigation of the turbulent characteristics of an open-channel flow by employing the micropolar model. The underlying model has already been proven to correctly describe the secondary phase of turbulent wall-bounded ...

Turbulence structure of non-uniform rough open channel flow

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
This paper focuses on the turbulence structure in a non-uniform, gradually varied, sub-critical open channel flow (OCF) on a rough bed. The flow field is analysed under accelerating, near-uniform and decelerating conditions.

Large-scale structures in a stratified open channel flow

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
We present the results of direct numerical simulation of stably stratified open channel flow. The simulation was conducted in a frame of reference moving with the mean flow.

A pre-training model based on CFD for open-channel velocity field prediction with small sample data

open access: yesJournal of Hydroinformatics, 2023
Accurately obtaining the distribution of the open-channel velocity field in hydraulic engineering is extremely important, which is helpful for better calculation of open-channel flow and analysis of open-channel water flow characteristics.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Numerical analysis of flow structures and bed entrainment in turbulent open-channel flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
PhDThe results from a Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) and a Large Eddy Simulation (LES) are employed to study the large-scale coherent structures and bed entrainment in the turbulent open-channel flow.

Steady flow of pressure-driven water-in-oil droplets in closed-open-closed microchannels

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Open microfluidics is an emerging field of bio/medical applications that need direct energy/matter exchange between microfluids and environment. This paper presents the design, simulation, fabrication, and test of a microfluidic chip for a water-in-oil ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
