Acceleration in turbulent channel flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We use Direct Numerical Simulations of turbulent channel flow to study the acceleration A corresponding to the full fluid velocity u and the acceleration a corresponding to the fluctuating velocity u? ? u?hui where hui is the mean flow.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Experiments on the effects of heterogeneous roughness in open channel flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This project analyses the effects on open channel flow from spatial changes in roughness.Different roughness scenarios are defined in order to have a contrast in velocity to allowfor measurable effects as the roughness distribution changes in the ...

Turbulent open channel flow, sediment erosion and sediment transport [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis aims to contribute to a better understanding of turbulent open channel flow, sediment erosion and sediment transport. The thesis provides an analysis of high-fidelity data from direct numerical simulation of (i) open channel flow over an ...

NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF OPEN CHANNEL STEADY GRADUALLY VARIED FLOW USING THE SIMPLIFIED SAINT-VENANT EQUATIONS

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2011
For one-dimensional open-channel flow modeling, the energy equation is usually used. There exist numerous approaches using the energy equation for open-channel flow computations, which resulted in the development of several very efficient methods for ...

A lattice Boltzmann model for the open channel flows described by the Saint-Venant equations [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2019
A new lattice Boltzmann method to simulate open channel flows with complex geometry described by a conservative form of Saint-Venant equations is developed.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Simulation of solute transport in Pingjiang karst underground river

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi
The flow rate of the Pingjiang Underground River exhibits rapid fluctuations during rainy seasons, yet the variation patterns of solute transport with flow changes remain unclear.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
