On the measurement of the complex permittivity of materials by an open-ended coaxial probe

IEEE Microwave and Guided Wave Letters, 1995
A number of papers have appeared on the characterization of materials using a coaxial probe. In most cases, approximate admittance models have been used for this purpose. The present work compares two rigorous mathematical models for the aperture admittance.

Precision open-ended coaxial probe for dielectric spectroscopy of breast tissue

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (IEEE Cat. No.02CH37313), 2003
Research suggests that there exists a significant contrast between the dielectric properties of cancerous and normal breast tissue at microwave frequencies. Open-ended coaxial probes have been extensively used and analyzed in dielectric spectroscopy. There has been an extensive numerical and experimental analysis of these probes to ensure the highest ...

Open-ended coaxial probe for the quantification of edema in human brain tissue

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2014
Abstract The major task in most autopsies is the evaluation of circumstances and cause of a person's death. The quantification of edema, primarily in certain brain regions, is a promising marker to distinguish between certain causes of death. This is especially important if there is no visible reason, for example, in the case of distinguishing Sudden

Improved calibration of a large open-ended coaxial probe for dielectric measurements

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1991
An improved method for calibrating an open-ended coaxial sensor is proposed. The calibration utilizes the measurements of an open, a short, and a short-cavity. These terminations are inexpensive to make and result in a calibration that depends only on the geometry of the sensor.

Non-unity reflection coefficient at the open end of a coaxial TDD probe

4th EEGS Meeting, 1998
In the last two decades, Time Dornain Reflectometry (TOR) has become a extremely versatile method to measure soil volumetric water content and bulk soil electric conductivity. Recent research has also proved the applicability of TOR for measuring subsoil petroleum contaminant saturation.
