Opto-Acoustic Oscillator Using Silicon Mems Optical Modulator

open access: yes, 2011
We show operation of a silicon MEMS based narrow-band optical modulator with large modulation depth by improving the electro-mechanical transducer. We demonstrate an application of the narrowband optical modulator as both the filter and optical modulator

Generalization of a 3-D resonator model for the simulation of spherical enclosures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A rectangular enclosure has such an even distribution of resonances that it can be accurately and efficiently modelled using a feedback delay network. Conversely, a non rectangular shape such as a sphere has a distribution of resonances that challenges ...

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Simple Memristive SPICE Macro-Models and Reconfigurability in Filter and Antenna [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2016
Simple current- and voltage-controlled memristive circuit macro-models using SPICE are proposed to capture the nonlinear hysteresis loop behaviors in this paper.

Fast tuning of superconducting microwave cavities

open access: yes, 2008
Photons are fundamental excitations of the electromagnetic field and can be captured in cavities. For a given cavity with a certain size, the fundamental mode has a fixed frequency {\it f} which gives the photons a specific "color". The cavity also has a

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Investigation of a Fiberoptic Device Based on a Long Period Grating in a Ring Resonator

open access: yesSensors, 2016
A fiberoptic architecture based on a ring resonator (RR) including a typical long period grating (LPG) was investigated. The interactions between the fundamental core mode (LP01 or HE11) coupled to the RR and the cladding mode (LP08), excited into the ...

In Situ Constructed Magnetic Core‐Shell Hydrogen‐Bonded Organic Framework‐on‐Metal–Organic Framework Structure: an Efficient Catalyst for Peroxymonosulfate Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, a magnetic core‐shell catalyst (HOF‐on‐Fe3O4/ZIF‐67) is successfully synthesized, consisting of a metal–organic framework (ZIF‐67) with magnetic Fe3O4 as the core and a porous hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) as the shell. The catalyst efficiently activated peroxymonosulfate, resulting in rapid and effective removal of water ...

Fabrication and measurements of hybrid Nb/Al Josephson junctions and flux qubits with pi-shifters

open access: yes, 2014
We describe fabrication and testing of composite flux qubits combining Nb- and Al-based superconducting circuit technology. This hybrid approach to making qubits allows for employing pi-phase shifters fabricated using well-established Nb-based technology

Selective Benzene Capture by Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) hold significant potential for capturing benzene from air emissions and hydrocarbon mixtures in liquid phases. This capability stems from their precisely engineered structures, versatile chemistries, and diverse binding interactions.
