Detecting open phase conductors

2015 68th Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers, 2015
Several papers have been written discussing high impedance fault detection (ANSI device HIZ) on overhead distribution circuits. Methods have been put forward that use relatively exotic proprietary algorithms involving relatively high sampling rates. These methods depend on the flow of at least some small arcing current in the affected phase.

Generalized Yang phase for open systems

Il Nuovo Cimento B Series 11, 1992
A generalization of the gauge-invariant Yang phase for open systems (described by non-Hermitian (NH) Hamiltonians) is derived by a biorthonormalstate approach. It is shown that the NH Yang phase is invariant under nonunitary bicanonical transformations.

Induction distribution of five-phase induction machines under open-phase fault

ISA Transactions, 2020
The main objective of the paper is to determine the induction distribution of five-phase induction machines operating under unbalanced steady state, focusing on the operation with two opened stator phases. Firstly, we present an analytical model based on symmetric components which includes the third harmonic component of the airgap induction. The model

Liquid Phase Chromatography on Open Columns

1985
In this chapter we will consider the principal methods of chromatography in which a packed column is used with a liquid moving phase. We are here grouping together a number of different physical systems, in which the common feature is the practical technique used; the broad sub-divisions were described in Chapter 1.

Vietnam: A New Phase Opens

Monthly Review, 1966
The last few weeks have witnessed developments directly and indirectly related to the war in Vietnam which may well turn out to be of historic significance. Perhaps it is superfluous to say that we are not referring to Washington's "peace offensive" or the resumption of United States bombing of North Vietnam.

Open-End Nine-Phase Machine Conversion Systems

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2015
This paper proposes four open-end nine-phase conversion systems with a reduced number of controlled switches. For this to be achieved, a converter is shared among the three three-phase groups that compose the machine. In addition, in order to reduce the number of controlled switches even more, three of the studied topologies with a shared converter ...
