The Barrier in Open-Office Planning
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1970The effectiveness of a barrier in open office planning is evaluated in terms of the total system of surrounding surfaces. Scale-modeling techniques utilizing an ultrasonic source have been used to determine the loss in sound isolation provided by a barrier between two adjacent spaces when reflective but potentially absorptive surfaces such as corewalls,

PRECISION OF ROOM ACOUSTIC MODELLING IN OPEN-PLAN OFFICES
Inter-Noise 2022, 2023Room acoustic models are often used to predict parameters that describe acoustic conditions in various spaces, also in open-plan offices. An open-plan office of 81 m² was experimentally studied using 22 different room acoustic conditions. The conditions were built using typical absorption materials, office screens, and furniture.

Acoustical environment in the open-plan office
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1976ASTM E-33.04C Committee on Environmental Acoustics, Applications Subcomittee, Task Force on Open-Office Acoustics, has prepared a publication entitled, “Acoustical Environment in the Open-Plan Office.” The purpose was “ … to assemble and explain recent references on the acoustical design and testing of open-plan offices. The principles contained may be

Parametric analysis of open plan offices
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002The workspace has been undergoing many changes. Open plan offices are being favored instead of ones of traditional design. In such offices, workstations are separated by partial height barriers, which allow a certain degree of visual privacy and some sound insulation.

The sound attenuation in an open-plan office
Applied Acoustics, 1973Abstract Attenuation curves have been measured in an open-plan office without furniture and with a number of different furniture arrangements. The furniture and screens were found to have little influence on the attenuation curves, which fluctuate in level out to distances of approximately 10 m from the source and tend to stay close to the 6 dB per ...

Refurbishment of an open-plan office – Environmental and job satisfaction
Journal of Environmental Psychology, 2016Abstract The purpose of this study was to provide evidence that there is a relationship between the quality of the physical environment and employee satisfaction. A quasi-field experiment was conducted in an open-plan office of 135 employees. The office was refurbished in various ways to achieve e.g.

Ambient noise in open plan offices
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1989This paper summarizes ambient noise data that were collected in open plan offices over the past 2 years. The approach centered on monitoring the noise level in empty workstations to establish some statistics of the noise that would be auditioned by a person sitting in that workstation during a normal work day.
