The Barrier in Open-Office Planning

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1970
The effectiveness of a barrier in open office planning is evaluated in terms of the total system of surrounding surfaces. Scale-modeling techniques utilizing an ultrasonic source have been used to determine the loss in sound isolation provided by a barrier between two adjacent spaces when reflective but potentially absorptive surfaces such as corewalls,

PRECISION OF ROOM ACOUSTIC MODELLING IN OPEN-PLAN OFFICES

Inter-Noise 2022, 2023
Room acoustic models are often used to predict parameters that describe acoustic conditions in various spaces, also in open-plan offices. An open-plan office of 81 m² was experimentally studied using 22 different room acoustic conditions. The conditions were built using typical absorption materials, office screens, and furniture.

The sound attenuation in an open-plan office

Applied Acoustics, 1973
Abstract Attenuation curves have been measured in an open-plan office without furniture and with a number of different furniture arrangements. The furniture and screens were found to have little influence on the attenuation curves, which fluctuate in level out to distances of approximately 10 m from the source and tend to stay close to the 6 dB per ...
