Phase rigidity and avoided level crossings in the complex energy plane [PDF]
We consider the effective Hamiltonian of an open quantum system, its biorthogonal eigenfunctions $\phi_\lambda$ and define the value $r_\lambda = (\phi_\lambda|\phi_\lambda)/$ that characterizes the phase rigidity of the eigenfunctions $\phi_\lambda$. In

A cosmological open quantum system
We derive the evolution equation for the density matrix of a UV- and IR- limited band of comoving momentum modes of the canonically normalized scalar degree of freedom in two examples of nearly de Sitter universes.

Complete Characterization of a Quantum Process: the Two-Bit Quantum Gate [PDF]
We show how to fully characterize a quantum process in an open quantum system. We particularize the procedure to the case of a universal two-qubit gate in a quantum computer.

Digital Simulation of Single Qubit Markovian Open Quantum Systems: A Tutorial
One of the first proposals for the use of quantum computers was the simulation of quantum systems. Over the past three decades, great strides have been made in the development of algorithms for simulating closed quantum systems and the more complex open

Identifiability of open quantum systems [PDF]
We provide a general framework for the identification of open quantum systems. By looking at the input-output behavior, we try to identify the system inside a black box in which some Markovian time-evolution takes place. Due to the generally irreversible nature of the dynamics, it is difficult to assure full controllability over the system.

Transitionless quantum driving in open quantum systems
We extend the concept of superadiabatic dynamics, or transitionless quantum driving, to quantum open systems whose evolution is governed by a master equation in the Lindblad form.

Simulation of open-quantum-system dynamics using the quantum Zeno effect
We suggest a quantum simulator that allows to study the role of memory effects in the dynamics of open quantum systems. A particular feature of our simulator is the ability to engineer both Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics by means of quantum ...
