Enabling Real‐Time, Non‐Ionizing 3D Imaging of Implantable Magnetic Cements Using Magnetic Particle Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study reports the first implantable resin cement capable of orientation‐sensitive Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI). By coating the cement with an ultrathin iron film, the authors achieve a strong, angle‐dependent MPI signal that enables non‐ionizing, real‐time tracking of both implant position and orientation, opening new possibilities for safe ...

AI‐Enhanced Gait Analysis Insole with Self‐Powered Triboelectric Sensors for Flatfoot Condition Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
The given research presents an innovative insole‐based device employing self‐powered triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) for flatfoot detection. By integrating TENG tactile sensors within an insole, the device converts mechanical energy from foot movements to electrical signals analyzed via machine learning, achieving an 82% accuracy rate in flatfoot ...

Mucosa‐Interfacing Capsule for In Situ Sensing the Elasticity of Biological Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
A fundamental mechanism of palpating soft materials is reported to sense deep tissue elasticity in situ with minimal invasion using the interaction between the robot palpation unit and soft tissues. Both the robot locomotion and elasticity sensing functions are remotely controlled by external magnetic fields, while the sensing data are wirelessly ...

The Definition of Open Reading Frame Revisited

Trends in Genetics, 2018
The term open reading frame (ORF) is of central importance to gene finding. Surprisingly, at least three definitions are in use. We discuss several molecular biological and bioinformatics aspects, and we recommend using the definition in which an ORF is bounded by stop codons.

Inferring genes from open reading frames

Computers & Chemistry, 1994
One expects that in DNA without protein coding function, stop codons (which constitute three of the 64 possible codons) should occur frequently in all reading frames, and that a long open reading frame (ORF) can be interpreted as a sign for the existence of a gene.
