Synthesis, surface properties, crystal structure and dye-sensitized solar cell performance of TiO2 nanotube arrays anodized under different parameters

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
In this paper, TiO2 nanotube arrays were prepared by anodic oxidation method. The effects of water content, anodizing time and sample post-treatment on the morphology and crystal structure of TiO2 nanotube arrays were systematically investigated.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Performance of air-cathode microbial fuel cell with wood charcoal as electrodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Local wood charcoal was used as the main component of the electrodes of an air-cathode microbial fuel cell (air-cathode MFC) in current study. The air cathode was build with fnely milled charcoal powder and cement plaster as binder; while anode was made ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Ship Propeller Performance Prediction under Cavitation

open access: yesCovenant Journal of Engineering Technology, 2019
In this study, numerically prediction of the screw propeller design that can overcome cavitation is conducted. The research presents a simplified regression model for the analysis of the geometric area ratio, pitch ratio and open water efficiency of ...

Boosting water oxidation through in situ electroconversion of manganese gallide: an intermetallic precursor approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
For the first time, the manganese gallide (MnGa4) served as an intermetallic precursor, which upon in situ electroconversion in alkaline media produced high‐performance and long‐term‐stable MnOx‐based electrocatalysts for water oxidation.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Injection Of air control of propeller performance

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics
With the rise of bubble lubrication technology in transport ships, the interaction between propellers and bubble flow has become increasingly important. On the basis of solving the Reynolds averaged equation and the volume fraction equation, a numerical ...

Swimming Performance in Elite Triathletes: Comparison Between Open Water and Pool Conditions

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports
ABSTRACTThis study aimed to compare performance, kinematic, and physiological variables between open water and pool swimming conditions in elite triathletes and to examine the associations between conditions on these variables. Fourteen elite triathletes (10 males and 4 females [23.4 ± 3.8 years]) performed two 1500‐m swimming tests in open water and ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
