Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Flexible CFD meshing strategy for prediction of ship resistance and propulsion performance
In the present study, we conducted resistance test, propeller open water test and self-propulsion test for a ship's resistance and propulsion performance, using computational fluid dynamics techniques, where a Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations ...

Treatment of saline produced water through photocatalysis using rGO-TiO 2 nanocomposites [PDF]
Graphene like-TiO2 nanocomposites (rGO-TiO2) are prepared via hydrothermal route by following different synthetic protocols. The as-prepared nanostructured materials exhibit higher photocatalytic activity than bare TiO2 in the treatment of synthetic ...

Effect of Manufacturing Accuracy of Flexible Propeller on the Open Water Performance [PDF]
The blades of flexible propellers are formed by overlaying and adhering many layers of thin glass-fiber fabric sheets, are compressed and dried in the rigid mold. The current manufacturing process can not avoid the rather irregular deformation of the blades composed of non-isotropic non-uniform fabric structures, and inevitably introduces the different

Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Effect of physical and mechanical properties of PU biopolymer membranes upon use of different fabrication techniques [PDF]
In developing polymer membranes that response to prevents liquid water from penetrating through, while at the same time permitting moisture past out through, polymer membrane with various structure ranging from dense to highly asymmetric ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Experimental evaluation of anti-stripping additives on porous asphalt mixtures [PDF]
The open structure of porous asphalt mix influences its strength and durability against air, water and clogging materials. These factors cause loss of adhesion between binder-aggregate interface and loss of cohesion within the binder film.
