Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

'The Open Work’: Ecologies of participation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Audience engagement with a sound work can extend beyond fixed conventions inwhich roles of creation and perception are separate. In an ‘open work’ these rolesare blurred, and the audience takes on an active part of co-creation.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Pedagogical Challenges in Online Teaching: A Qualitative Study on Vietnamese University Teachers of Social Sciences

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Education, 2023
In recent years, online teaching has gained significant traction in higher education institutions across the globe, primarily due to the widespread impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Before the pandemic, online teaching was mainly associated with distance

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Leonardo Ricci and Bruno Zevi: the Translation of "Anonymous" and "Organic" in the "Open Work"

open access: yes, 2021
This contribution deals with Ricci and Zevi’s shared idea of spatial architectural research derived from the conception of architecture as democratic device. The aim is to understand the reasons for the theoretical affinity between Zevi and Ricci dealing

Open Maps (at) Work

open access: yesBRICS Report Series, 1995
The notion of bisimilarity, as defined by Park and Milner,
has turned out to be one of the most fundamental notions of operational
equivalences in the field of process algebras. Not only does it induce
a congruence (largest bisimulation) in CCS which has nice equational
properties, it has also proven itself ...
