Quantifying Soft‐Surgery in Cochlear Implantation: Multimodal Data From 30 International Specialists

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 9, Page 3990-3997, September 2026.
Objective data from 30 specialist cochlear implant surgeons showed that surgical handling strongly influences intracochlear mechanical stress during implantation. Surgeons with fewer than 50 lifetime insertions performed significantly worse than more experienced colleagues, while self‐assessment did not reflect objective performance in any group ...

Quantitative Spatiotemporal Analysis of Ultrasound Images of Fasciculations in ALS

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, Volume 74, Issue 3, Page 644-655, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Fasciculations are a hallmark of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), yet quantitative description of individual events on muscle ultrasound (MUS) is limited. We characterized the spatiotemporal kinematics of individual fasciculations to determine whether they differ between ALS and other neurogenic conditions.

LaZeTrack: An open‐source object detection algorithm to detect and track 2‐day‐old zebrafish motor touch responses

open access: yesQuantitative Biology, Volume 14, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Zebrafish are a model organism used for the study of vertebrate development, disease, and drug discovery. Two‐day old zebrafish exhibit burst swimming behavior that can be elicited by a light touch to the tail. Motor touch responses are frequently video‐recorded and later analyzed by hand.

Genetic dissection of southern corn leaf blight resistance in sweet corn through genome‐wide association studies and genomic selection

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Southern corn leaf blight (SCLB) is caused by the fungal pathogen Bipolaris maydis (syn. Cochliobolus heterostrophus Drechsler) and is a common disease of fall crops of sweet corn. Phenotyping for SCLB resistance is performed through visual scoring, which is subjective and may limit genetic gain for this quantitative trait.

OpenCV Studio

open access: yes
Computer vision has been generating increasing interest due to its applicability in the field of artificial intelligence. To support systems that use computer vision, libraries have emerged aimed at facilitating the implementation of behaviors and functionalities, such as the OpenCV library. This is a complex library, consisting of several modules that

Estimation of pulmonary function from time‐resolved dynamic chest radiography using machine learning in patients with respiratory disease

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Background Pulmonary function tests (PFTs), particularly spirometry, are the reference standard for assessing airflow limitation in respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial pulmonary disease.
