Towards Unifying Structures in Higher Spin Gauge Symmetry
This article is expository in nature, outlining some of the many still incompletely understood features of higher spin field theory. We are mainly considering higher spin gauge fields in their own right as free-standing theoretical constructs and not ...

Quillen homology for operads via Gr\"obner bases [PDF]
The main goal of this paper is to present a way to compute Quillen homology of operads. The key idea is to use the notion of a shuffle operad we introduced earlier; this allows to compute, for a symmetric operad, the homology classes and the shape of the

The generalized Harer conjecture for the homology triviality
Abstract The classical Harer conjecture states the stable homology triviality of the canonical embedding ϕ:B2g+2↪Γg$\phi: B_{2g+2} \hookrightarrow \Gamma _{g}$, which was proved by Song and Tillmann. The main part of the proof is to show that Bϕ+:BB∞+→BΓ∞+$\operatorname{B}\phi ^{+}: \operatorname{B}B_{\infty }^{+} \rightarrow \operatorname{B}\Gamma _ ...

Some rational homology computations for diffeomorphisms of odd‐dimensional manifolds
Abstract We calculate the rational cohomology of the classifying space of the diffeomorphism group of the manifolds Ug,1n:=#g(Sn×Sn+1)∖int(D2n+1)$U_{g,1}^n:= \#^g(S^n \times S^{n+1})\setminus \mathrm{int}(D^{2n+1})$, for large g$g$ and n$n$, up to degree n−3$n-3$.

What is an equivalence in a higher category?
Abstract The purpose of this survey is to present in a uniform way the notion of equivalence between strict n$n$‐categories or (∞,n)$(\infty ,n)$‐categories, and inside a strict (n+1)$(n+1)$‐category or (∞,n+1)$(\infty ,n+1)$‐category.

Cofibrant operads and universal E∞ operads
AbstractWe introduce various homotopy structures on the category of operads, which shed some light into the homotopy theoretic nature of the barconstruction WB of an operad, the whiskering process for operads and the Σ-freeness condition. Using the lifting property of cofibrant objects, we construct E∞ operads A which are universal: any E∞-structure ...
