Harvesting energy from magnetic fields to power condition monitoring sensors

open access: yes, 2013
Condition monitoring is playing an increasingly important role within electrical power networks, where its use can help to reduce maintenance costs, improve supply reliability and permit increased utilization of equipment capacity by providing a measure ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Remotely gear condition monitoring using traditional signal processing techniques

open access: yes, 2009
For gearbox condition monitoring, because the difficulty of sensor installation, it is a common practice to measure the vibration at a location far from the fault source.

End-to-end modelling and design of a new operating condition for HEG

open access: yes, 2004
A new operating condition has been designed for the High Enthalpy Shock Tunnel Göttingen (HEG). It corresponds to the free-flight conditions expected during the SHEFEX and HYSHOT free-flight experiments and duplicates Mach 8 flight at 28km altitude ...

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Continuous wavelet transform and neural network for condition monitoring of rotodynamic machinery

open access: yes, 2001
This paper describes a novel method of rotodynamic machine condition monitoring using a wavelet transform and a neural network. A continuous wavelet transform is applied to the signals collected from accelerometer.

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Remote online machine condition monitoring using advanced internet, wireless and mobile communication technologies

open access: yes, 2011
A conceptual model with wireless and mobile techniques is developed in this thesis for remote real-time condition monitoring, which is applied for monitoring, diagnosing, and controlling the working conditions of machines.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.
